Choosing a History Day topic is not an easy task. I for one, was hesitant to dive into the
research, however with the help of my teacher, Sister A as we call her, I was
able to make a decision on a topic and choose a group to research and present
that topic with.
My
name is Jean, me and my partner blogger Mimi, are in the same History Day group
along with three other girls in our grade. After some debate, we landed on one
topic. The Woman's ChristianTemperance Union. We found this topic to fit the
theme 'Revolution, Reaction, Reform throughout history' extremely well.
After deciding on a topic we all dove into our research, each finding
new and exciting facts about the WCTU. I can't reveal any of them to you
however. I wouldn't want to possibly help any of our competitors!
History Day is something that I look forward to every year. It is
something that encourages me to push myself to do that much more research or to
write on more paragraph on my history paper.
History Day is not always academic either, for me it is a chance to bond
with our classmates. For example, there are five girls, including me, in our
History Day group. And being in a group together has really allowed us to bond
as friends.
